Where can I get hood arms for my beautiful Marmet? One side does not lock down when I put the hood up. And what can I do for a squeeky chassis?

Right Juanita is your chassis a chrome collapsible one? If so I have never had one so I can only assume that you need to oil the joints maybe? I don't know but it can't hurt surely? See if that helps it. If it is a pram with leather strap suspension, I have heard that others have had a similar problem but I haven't so I will a sk around and s ee what I can find out, but you will need to let me know what pram type you have, how about sending me a photograph? Hood a rms - there is really only Ebay where you can go to for hood arms. You need to measure - on the good hood arm - the distance between the two pins on your hood, when the hood arm is in the fully extended position. That will then be the size of hood arms that you need. You will have to buy a new pair of hood arms I would imagine, it will be difficult to get just one to match the one that you already have. I is sometimes easier to get a hood complete with hood arms (still the right size for your hood though) and then ditch the hood when you have removed the hood arms and put them onto your pram. This hood finishes in just a couple of hours Juanita, ask to see if it has the same size hood arms that you need. I have no idea how big your pram is, or what type so I can't help you there I'm afraid. Item number is 130390047137 Sandra

Thankyou for your reply. I have a chrome chassis. I managed to fix the squeeky problem just by giving it a bit of a scrub with soap and water and tightening a couple of nuts n' bolts and it is just lovelly and shiny with no squeek and it even seems to have better suspension!
I've looked at some Coachbuilt pram photo's and I came to the conclusion that mine is a Marmet Bayswater. It is 32" by 16" and great condition with just a few little bits n' bobs that I want to fix up so she is at her best again!
Yea, I will have a look on ebay and see what they got. If I can't get a pair of hood arms on their own then I will get them with a hood included. Also I was just wondering if you had any advise on what I should do with the wheels... I really would like to get them nice and clean again as I love white wheels. The previous owner had painted them white at some point but now they are looking a quite dirty. Shall I give them a scrub down and see how they turn out or maybe look to buying new one's? I will try and put photo's on here as soon as poss.

You mean your tyres Juanita? You have two choices, what I do is I get some cream cleanser, (like Cif but I use Lidl's or Tesco's own, it's cheaper). Then I use a dishwashing sponge, one of the ones with a nylon scourer on one side and I use the nylon scourer with the cream cleanser to really scrub the tyres (and wheels as well if they need cleaning). You won't hurt your chrome wheels at all as long as you don't use wire wool. Wipe off the excess and see what you have got.. When the cream cleanser has dried on your chrome wheels, get a soft dry cloth and polish it off, you will have lovely shiny wheels too. The next option I have never done so I don't know any more than I am telling you, people have been putting the whole wheels into their dishwasher and they say they get great results it really gets the tyres nice and clean and shiny. If you diced to do this don't forget that you will need to grease the inside of the hub well after it has come out of the dishwasher and dried out. That is as much as I know of how to do this I'm afraid. But I can find out if you are interested in trying this way of doing it. I'll stick to my cream cleanser I think! Sandra

Thanx again, I gave the tyres a scrub yesterday just with washing up liquid and water and I managed to get all the paint off, they are looking better, but I will try the cream cleaner tomorrow to bring them up a little more fresher. All I think thats left to do is sorting out the hood arm and just touching up a few scratches on the body work. Do you know how best to do that? And is there a particular type of paint I need to get?

Are they deep scratches Juanita? If they are just light scratches then you could try to T cut the paint work. You can buy T cut from any auto supply store, follow the instructions and what happens is that you take off a very think layer of paint and hopefully that will get rid of your scratch. If they are deeper scratches then I would take it to a car body shop and see if they can help you. You may be able to get something from Halford's for it but it would be very unlikely that you could get exactly the same colour of paint and you may end up making it more nocticeable. Sorry to give you bad news. Sandra

Thanks Sandra. I would say that they are farely small scratches, not too deep. I just wanted to get it perfect as it doesn't need too much doing to it. Might check out what a car body shop can do for it. Thankyou. X
