We have a Pedigree pram that has been in the family for nearly 43 years. On the whole it is in good condition although the tyres need replacing and the two large wheels a pitted. The tyres are:
20x7/8 to fit 18 and 18x7/8 to fit 16 E/E x7280
Are these tyres the same as used on other prams or will I have to have them made?
Also are prams from this era safe o use? Are there cocerns about materials used in the lining etc?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi LDM I don't expect that fire retardent fabrics were used on prams in the late 50's on certainly, but I personally would not hesitate to put a baby into a clean example of a coachbuilt pram from that time on. ONe thing that you must do is to ensure that once the child can begin to move around in the pram, turn himself over etc, then you must always make sure that you use a safety harness for them. The potential for an active child to fall out of the pram without a harness is great. Sandra

Thanks for the reply. I was more concerned about the possibility of toxic materials being used in the construction.
We will probably buy the new tyres from Holland as the guy sounds like he knows his stuff.
Does anyone know much about the pedigree prams? In particular the model we have (shown in pic on left). All i know is that pepigree was part of the Lines Bros. group. Sorry the pic is so small but I was unsure how to upload them.

From what I can see and looking through my catalogues your pram might be a Valiant, but I would need to see a better pic to be able to be sure. When you are typing your message out, there are a lot of symbols along the top of the screen, going from the right, go to the 4th symbol which is a blueish coloured photograph, click on it and you will be able to put your photograph on here with your message then.
