Put  your   questions  and  queries on  here  and  hopefully  you  will get   help  from  others.    You can  insert  photographs  easily  if  you need  to,  by  simply  clicking on the  photograph  icon  (4th from the right)  at the  top of  the  message window,  and  when the  next page  loads,  click on   the  computer  option on  the  left,  which  will   let you easily  upload  a photograph  from  'My Pictures' on your own  computer.  It  is very easy,  because  I can  do it!  :/

Hope you find this  Topic  useful

Hello,

I recently bought a pram and it has the Marmet logo on it but I'm unable to find out any other information.  I live in Houston Texas and I'm trying to find parts for my pram because it needs to be redone. Hopefully someone could tell me what type of Marmet pram this is and maybe the year. I also need to know where to find or order parts from.  I can't figure out how to load the picture but it's the pram in my profile pic.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me.

I'm afraid  that   I  don't know of  anywhere   where  you can  just order  parts   for  prams,  except  the  very modern  Silver Cross ones.    You  can  get  spares  for  them from Heritage prams.  The only  way   that  we  can  get   spare  parts  over  here    is  by   hopefully  finding  someone  who has  a pram the  same   that  they are   breaking, or   perhaps  by   getting   the  same  model pram  from  Ebay  or  somewhere  and  cannibalizing  that.   What  parts   do you need?

I posted a reply but it hasn't shown up so I'm presuming I did something wrong-LOL-oh well.  It's a later 60s era going by the chassis and the catalogues I have but I can't fine the exact model.  I have passed my pram parts collection on to a f riend but like me she is in Canada.  If you email me with closeup pics of what needs to be done I can guide you best I can. The only proper pram restoring shop in NA is in Toronto and due to USA customs reg he no longer deals with USA customers.  Regards Frances  fw_lillie@hotmail.com

Hi Babs, fancy giving it away! I sold my my first pram (wasn't a couchbuilt but a big pram) on a car boot for a £1 about 5 years ago! Still miss it. It had gone through 9 babies and was in a sorry state when it came back to me so I completey recovered it. Have you found a supplier for hood fabric? I need a very dark navy blue for my Sheraton. Its almost black. If any one else can help I'd appreciate it. Claire

hi, ive just become the new owner of this lovely little pram. i know you cant tell from the photo but she does need some work!! the first problem (1st of many iam sure!!lol!!) I have is the rubber handle is starting to perish where it goes around the corners on the handle.....what would you experienced pram restorers do ? i know you cant reverse perished rubber (or can you?) but there must be something out there to improve the appearance , it would be a shame to replace it (dont even know if thats possible!!) as the middle part with marmet written on isnt too bad. any suggestions greatfully received. mel x

Mel,  you  can  use  one of the  heat  shrink  covers  but     the only  thing  is  that  you    must be  able  to take  off  your  pram  handle  from  the  pram  in  order  to   fit it..   For most  hadnles  it is  ok  but  some are   riveted  on there  are   that   makes  things  difficult.   Can you see  how  to  take  your  handle off   and  more importantly   is it  easy  to put  back on again  afterwards?

hi, yeah the handle is riveted on, but hubby is pretty good at stuff like that,

and its got to come off to be rechromed anyway. the handle does have like a ribbed effect to it and it bends around the corners of the handle...would the shrink cover still work? could i still feed it around the curves of the handle once its been "shrink wrapped" to put it back on? mel x

I've  never    tried  to  do it  on  one  of  the   handle  covers  that   goes  around  the  corners  of  the   handle  bar  Mel,   so I  really  don't know  whether  it  would  do  that.   You'd  have  to   shrink  wrap   the   current   handle   while it  was   still on  the metal   handle  bar,  you  couldn't   do  it  when it  was  off  the handle  bar  I wouldn't  think  Mel.   Anyway  now it is  a  bit  late   because  I  can't    buy  any more  handle  cover  up   to now,  they seem  to have  stopped  making it  for  some  reason.

Hello,  I just bought a navy silver stream.  It has two dents and a couple of scratches (paint has flaked off but not rusty).   Its all on the front panel, below the back of the hood.  The rest of the coachbuilt part is excellent.  Do I need to get the whole of the pram re sprayed or can I just get the front part done.   Does anyone know of a good person to do this.  I think Heritage will be expensive. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Take it  to  a good  car  body  shop near  to  you  Jules,  they  should be  able to match the paint  for  you  and    sort  out  the  repairs.

The only  thing  I can  suggest  to you  is  that   you    try  to  get  another   pram   with the  same  chassis.   I am a fraid t hat   that is  all  that  you  can  do,   you   just  can't  buy  these  parts   these  days.    You   could  take it  to   somewhere  where  they  do   welding and   that  sort of  metal  work,  I am   sure  that  someone    should b e  able   to  help  you  with   getting  something  sorted  out.

You were  asking  about  rivets  too,    well   same  thing,  it is  difficult  to     be able  to   fit   rivets, even   if  you  could  get  them,    they  mostly need   some  heavy   equipment  to    fix  them I  think.  (But I am  no metal worker!  But   there  are   things  available  that   are  called  Star lock  end  caps  that  I  think  may  well be  the sort of  thing  that  you need,   try  here  http://www.bakfin.com/

These  Star lock  ends  just  push  on  and  look  just like  a  rivet  when they are  in  place.
