 Hello

I have just brought a  silvercross berkeley, but the smaller tyres needed replacing. i have bought some but need to know who to get them on the wheels? The people i brought the pram from have already replaced the large tyres but maneged to buckle one of the wheels while trying to get the tyre on(i want to avoid doing this if i can), but the local cycle repair shop think they will be able to sort it out.

Also the pram has a scrape in the paint (its musturd and brown) the scrape is in the musterd bit at the back under the hood. I want to touch this up with car paint but my husband told me to sand it down first, is that a good idea i dont want to make it any worse than it is.

Cant wait to start using it for my son!

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Rachel

Hi Rachel  if  the   bike  shop  can  do  the  tyres for  you  I'd  let  them,  it  can   be  a  bit  of  a tight   squeeze  to get  them on  I believe.  My husband  always  put   my  tyres  on  and  so I  don't  have  to  do it  thank goodness!

As  far as  sorting  out the  scratch  in  your  paint   I'm  afraid  that  it is  always harder  to  cover  up  a  scratch  than  it is   to    repaint  I    think.    First of  all if  you haven't  got  exactly  the  right  colour  it  can  stick  out   like  a   sore  thumb,  so  be  sure  that  you have,  try  a  little of  the paint  you  have  got  un  an  area  where it   won't  be  seen,  for example right  under  the  body  of the  pram,   where  no  one  can  ever  see it,   or  spray  the new paint  onto  a  piece  of  paper  or   plastic,  anything  that  will  get  the paint onto  it  and  try  that  against  the  body  of  the pram  when it  is  dry.     Yes   you  would have  to  rub  it  down  and  after  you have     painted  the    scrape,  you   would probably have  to  polish  up  the  area   around  the  edges  to    sort of   blend  in the paint.   But   I have  never   done     it  so  don't take my  word  for it.   I  think   unless the scrape  is  really  bad  I'd  leave  well  alone,  unless you can get a car  body  shop  maybe  to  do the  job  for  you and that  could be expensive.

Thanks for the info Sandra. I was about to take the tyres to the cycle shop today only to discover i had rather stupidly brought the wrong size, £42 wasted, a rather expensive mistake!  And they came from the same man who is suggested on this site so it wouldn,t be worth my while to send them back because of postage costs. So the new tyres are now going to have to wait abit(icould have kicked myself).

They are 300/350 if you know any one who needs this size and would like to buy them off me please let me know.

Thanks again.
