I have recently been given a Churchill pram which must be about 40 years old. The hood and apron are grubby and the hood has a hole in it, and the lining has gone yellow, probably with dampness. Can anyone advise me the best methods for cleaning or if thats not possible reupholstering? | |

If you have a look at the Egremont restoration section Caroline, I did put quite a lot on there about how to strip down and recover a hood, have a look and see what you think. You can clean your hood outer with a soft bristle brush and a little bit of something like washing up liquid, or even a mild shampoo and some warm water. Don't use too much or you will never rinse it off again, be very careful not to get the inside of the body too wet, you coudl even take the hood off the pram body to clean it. the lining can be cleaned with some cream cleanser like Cif and again a soft bristle nail brush or something similar, but it is difficult to get stained linings back to normal I'm afraid. Use the same method of cleaning your apron too. When you have rinsed your hood and apron completely always let it dry in the up position and your apron should dry actually fixed onto the pram, otherwise they can shrink as they dry.
