My much awaited Navy blue Marmet Lady finally arrived about 3 weeks ago now courtesy of Bearsby's/Brittania removals. I was so excited I can't tell you. We had to go and meet the delivery vehicle in the next village because we knew that he wouldn't be able to get the lorry up here because it was just too big. I took my camera with me and began taking pics before it had even been taken from the lorry! Watch the drama unfold
The lorry parked up in Groeslon
My lovely pram is in there!
Out she comes and nicely packed isn't it?
Straight into the back of my new Fiat Doblo, which I bought especially because it is great to be able to put prams straight into the back without taking them to pieces.
OK so we have arrived home here and the Lady is taken straight out of the back of the Doblo and left there on the drive to unwrap.
O-oh! What is this I spy? A wrinkled up area of packaging which doesn't bode well
This is as I began to undo the packaging
I got a little concerned here because this is the handle end of the pram and it doesn't seem to have a nice straight handle
Cardboard outer packaging is now gone
Here it is!
Can you see what I could see? At this point my heart was in my boots I can assure you.
And here you can begin to see the damage! I was heart broken. If you look carefully at the part of the handle which is at the bottom on the pic you might be able to see a couple of marks on the chrome which has been damaged and there is at least one more area of damage to the handle on the opposite side.
Can you see where the handle is bent here?
You can maybe see the bend in the handle better from this direction
Here is the handle taken off the pram and placed on my work surface, looks good doesn' it?
So that is it really. I have filled in a Claim form for Bearsby's and sent with it all of these photographs and more so that they can see exactly how I found the damage, etc. One thing though, where do I get an original handle for my Lady from and if I did find one, how much would it cost? I will have to have the handle re-chromed after it has been straightened and it cost the lady I bought it from £150 to rechrome it, so the bill is going to be high and I suspect that I won't get the full cost from Bearsby's/Brittania, I hope I'm wrong. I will let you all know what happens next. I wanted to take the Lady to the Wolverhampton Show and so the only thing that I could do was to use the handle from the black Lady as a substitute. It looked brill as I hope you will agree, but none of this did my blood pressure any good at all I can tell you. Accidents happen but something gave my pram a really good bang didn't it? Wonder what it was?
