Welcome  to   Visitor's  Prams!

This   section is  for   visitors  to    the  site   to have  their   lovely  prams    shown  off,  or    for  the rest of  us  to   hear   their  story, with prams  in it of  course!

Symon Sims    sent  me  some  photographs of  the Marmet  that  he has  been  restoring.

What  a  tangle  of   chassis  and    wheels  but the chrome  looks pretty  good  doens't it?

Symon  hard at  work  upholstering the interior of  his pram

Look at  the  gleam on  that  side  panel,  isn't it lovely?  Well  done Symon,  you have  done  a  wonderful  job on your  first   restoration,  I  hope  we  see  a  lot more  of your  work.

Symon    thought that   his  Marmel  was  a  Melrose  at  first  but   had  some  help  from  another  prammie  site  who  sent  him  these  images  from  Marmet  catalogues.

So  this  is  a   bit  confusing   because   the  Montrose in  the  image  above and the  Melrose in  the  top  image   both  look  to me  like   Symon's  pram  but  I  can't   help thinking   that the  chassis'  might be  slightly  different  in  which case  I  would    go  for  Symon's being  a  Melrose  still.     The  paintwork on the  side panel  is lightly  different  too.   This may  just  be  a   slight  change  to  the  normal  paintwork,  or  it is possible that  it  could  be  a  completely  different  named  pram  altogether.   Pram  companies   did  change    things  slightly  and then call  them by a   different  name sometimes,  they  didn't  worry  about   people trying  to  identify  them years  later.     I  don't  know  what  year catalogues  these   two  images  come from,  but  if  anyone  can  help   any further  with  identification,   Symon  would be  delighted  to hear  more  and  so
would I.

Neil     contacted me  months  ago  (last  year  wasn't it  Neil?)    Neil  is  Canadian,   his  wife  was   pregnant  and they  already  had a  stunning little  girl.    Neil had  got  it  into  his head  that  he wanted  to  find  a     coachbuiltpram  for  his   wife  to push  the new  baby   around in.     He  didn't  want  his  wife to know  anything a bout  it   but  was going  to surprise  her   with  the pram a t   some  time   toward  the end of  her  pregnancy.  I  couldn't  help   thinking  want  a  lovely man  Neil  was  to  take  all  of that   trouble   to  do something  so  special  for  his   wife.    I have to  say  that  I  couldn't  help   thinking  what  a  lucky  lady  she  was.

Neil    had  found   this  website on  the web  and  contacted me  to  see   what  I  thought of  two  different prams  one  was  a  Pedigree  and  I can't  remember the model  now,  but   Neil  decided    not to have it I remember,  because  it had a tubular  chassis  and   the   chassis  had  split,  so  wasn't   a  good  idea  to have   that one.     Next  Neil  found  a  Super  Burley   with  nice  big  24 inch  wheels  and  I  seem  to remember that   I  thought  he may have  that one.  He  sent me  photographs of  both prams  and I  couldn't  get  over  how  he  was  finding   all of  these   prams in Canada    and  in  Canada  there is  a  dearth of  prams  as  we  know.

Then   Neil sent me    this  photograph  and  asked   me  what  I thought  about  this pram.

Now  what  could  I say  about  this pram  except  that  it  looked  absolutely  stunning  and  I     believe  that  I advised him  to   grab  it in  both hands if the  condition  was  as   good as  it  looked  and  if he  could afford  it.     He  did of  course  and  he  bought  it  for his   wife  and  their  new  son.

I  heard  from  Neil   now  and again  after that  he     emailed  and  told me  how  the  surprise  had   gone  down  with  his  wife and that  she  loved the pram as  much  as  he  did  and they used it  regularly    for their  little  boy.

Then  out of the  blue  I  got  another  message  from Neil,  asking me  what I thought of   a  pram  that  he  was  thinking of buying.    It  was  lovely pram.  one of my  favourite  models  and  I  told him that  it  was again  all down  to   condition  on   price  really, but that  I  thought  it  would  be a good  buy if   the pram  was  good condition.    Well  I  had to ask   why   he  wanted another pram  didn't I?    I  couldn't  sleep for   curiosity!

Here is  Neil's  reply  along  with the photographs he  sent  me.  I  am  keeping the name of  his  propsed  new  pram a  secret until  later!:-

Hi  Sandra.......I  would  keep  the ********.....what  can  I say?   .....I've   got the pram  addiction!  I have  decided to start  collecting them,  I love the hunt  and  why not, they are only going to go up in   value.   I have  two  children  and one  day they will have  children  so .....I need   a pram  to give  each of them as a  gift  when  they have  children  and  of    course Liv and I  will still need one of  our  own to push  the grandchildren...so at the  very least  I must  have 3!!   I am very  close  to  the ********      I am still waiting for the owner  to set up a time to view  it however.... so we  will see... Liv and I  took the pram  to a local   festival on Saturday and it  was  fantastic!    We spoke  with at least  100  different  people  who  just  wanted to  talk to us about the pram  and as  we were  walking  it we  constantly   heard in the background....'ohh  look at that  lovely old pram'.. ' look  at  the  beautiful  old  buggy'..we  heard comments  and got   smiles  all  day!   I'm  sure you know  what  I'm  talking about!  We met many  elderly ladies  who   told us  stories  about  having  their own prams in the  UK  and one lady  even knew  it was  a  Wilson Monaco as   she had had one  when  she  was  still in England...many  women  asked us where  they  could get  one!   LoL  I  enjoyed  standing  back and  watching  Liv  tell people  about the pram...   she told me she  felt  very  special  to be  pushing  it with everyone noticing...  I  was  waiting in  line  with  Anna  to get her  face painted  while  Liv was  standing about  15 feet  away  with the baby in the Monaco  and  she had  groups of  8 people  around her  asking about the pram...it was   really  something...It  was very  busy  at the  festival  so  we went for  a walk again the following day and  took some pics...I thought   I'd  send  some to you of  us  enjoying the pram in our  home  town!  The  Fort  Langley  Hall  is  where  we had  our  wedding  reception  and is  always  being  used for  movies and tv shows....the  ones  with the   river in the  background with  Liv  and  Chase  and the one of  yours   trully  is the mighty  Fraser River!    I  threw one in of the  face painting  I  spoke of as  well!   Hope  you are   happy  and healthy  Sandra!

Talks  soon  Neil.

See what  I mean  about  what  a  lovely husband  and   daddy  Neil   is?   I hope you agree that  that  is one   lovely story.   If   anyone  of you  would  like  to  add a  story of your own  please  send  it  to me   at   coachbuiltprams@yahoo.com
